Both Grey and Oreo bring their spit game on this one. Grey is at home rhyming about his love of High Life, women and parties. Over the past couple of years, Grey Granite has consistently distinguished himself from other vocalists by perpetually reinventing his style and jumping on anything that catches his interest. Starting with his legendary Amplifies the Killers project to his recent immaculate album Lust Poisons Pride, Grey has been one of the few artists in the Midwest to successfully go left and follow his sonic dreams. His creativity has recently garnered the support of Kick Kick Snare, Ruby Hornet, Loyal KNG, Noise Porn, Nuvo, and Musical Family Tree and several other media outlets. Now with his partner J. Brookinz, the duo have launched Heavy Gun Recordings and are beginning the next portion of their journey.
The man behind the crazy production on PLFBM is the one an only El Carnicero. El Carnicero aka the Butcher aka Aaron Berg has been solidifying his name as master of heavy bass for the past several years. In the mid 2000s as grime was making it’s way across the Atlantic to the States, El Carnicero teamed up with Philly based producers Starkey and Dev79 to form the now infamous Slit Jockey Records. In the past, the Butcher has produced tracks for Doodlebug of Digable Planets, Warrior Queen, and RikoDan of the Roll Deep Crew. Beyond his recent work with Grey, Aaron is currently working on a new project with New York rapper Elucid entitled CapricornOne.

So after a few months of waiting, the third installment of the “Mash Down” series is finally here for your listening pleasure! First up, thanks to everyone who supported and downloaded Volume 2. If you’re new to the blog, or have simply missed out, you can still grab it HERE
This time around, I’ve gone in with a mixture of Dubstep, Grime, Bassline/UK Garage, and some Southern Hip Hop from the likes of Crissy Criss, High Rankin, Rusko, Joker, Emalkay, Ruff Squad, Tempz, Bonecrusher, David Banner and more. DJ Cable Vs. Tempa T & Rusko “Mr. Muscle’s Hype”
It’s been a while since I hit you with a blend, or a mixtape for that matter…But have no fear, here’s something to keep you occupied before “The Mash Down Vol. 3″ drops next month.
Anyhow, whilst sorting out the tracklisting for the forthcoming mix, I came up with this as an idea for a transition between these two tracks. I made a DIY acapella of Tempa T’s (aka Tempz) Grime anthem “Next Hype” (seeing as the studio acapella only got leaked to a couple of DJs) which came out near perfect, and used part of it over Rusko’s banger “Mr. Muscle”…In my opinion, it worked so well that I decided to make a full Thugstep blend out of it.

DJ Cable Guest Mix on BBC Asian Network
Hello all, just a quick post to let you all know that this past Wednesday, I had a guest mix aired on DJ Kayper’s show on BBC Asian Network, as part of the Hype “Mixtape Challenge”.
For those that don’t know, each week Kayper does the “Mixtape Challenge” on her show, where she challenges a DJ to fit 3 or 4 Desi tracks into a 15 minute mix of any genre; be it cutting them up, remixing/re-editing them, etc…In other words, you gotta be creative!
Previous DJs who’ve taken up the challenge include Crookers, MJ Cole, DJ Craze & DJ Yoda, so I knew I had to step my game up! So as a result, this mix showcases a lot more scratching, a whole mixture of genres, and some re-editing which I’ve done in Ableton. I hope you enjoy it!
