Pretty Sick. How come there is that instrumental break after the first hook?

my issue was mainly that i really liked how the hook sounded with the chorus of “hell of a life” (which i had to take down a semitone cuz it sounded like crap before haha), and didn’t want to sacrifice that for the additional hooks. From the start of Drake’s verse to the next hook was 17 bars, and with “hell of a life” being a very standard 4-bar rhythm, i could either cut Drake’s verse into the first hook by a bar (16 bars), or i could put 3 bars of “hey hey” (20 bars) haha–i chose the latter.
